Constitutional Crisis:
Donald Trump’s El Salvador Prison
Bring Kilmar Home / MoveOn

(April 29, 2025) — Donald Trump is openly defying a unanimous Supreme Court ruling by refusing to return Kilmar Abrego Garcia from a dangerous megaprison in El Salvador infamous for its human rights abuses. (1) (2)

Despite a unanimous 9-0 Supreme Court ruling that Abrego Garcia’s deportation was unlawful—and an order to return Abrego Garcia to the United States—the Trump administration refuses to comply, and Abrego Garcia still remains in El Salvador. (3)

And in a shocking display of its fascist tendencies, the Trump administration said on Friday that Abrego Garcia “is never coming back.” (4)

In addition to being a critical immigration and human rights issue, Trump’s defiance of a Supreme Court order is a direct challenge to our constitutional system of checks and balances.

When a president can ignore the highest court in the land, none of our rights are secure. That’s why MoveOn is taking action: During the April congressional recess, we’re mobilizing in full force to stop these lawless abductions.

MoveOn has identified seven persuadable House Republicans who represent moderate districts. These lawmakers know they don’t represent MAGA districts and can’t afford to be seen as enabling human rights abuses and constitutional violations. With enough pressure from constituents, we can force these Republicans to be the ones to stand up to Trump.

Our April congressional recess plan is already in motion. We’re organizing phone banks, town halls, and local media events in each of these seven districts. MoveOn members will deliver a clear message to these representatives: Defend the Constitution and demand Trump comply with the Supreme Court’s order.

But this kind of targeted, strategic organizing requires resources. Will you start a monthly donation to power our campaign during this critical April recess period and sustain our long-term efforts to defend our democracy?

Here’s what your donation will fund: MoveOn members will organize their communities to coordinate actions, make noise in the local press and across social media platforms, and ensure these representatives can’t escape hearing from their constituents.

Our plan is to turn up the heat so that these representatives know we will not stand idly by as the administration defies the Supreme Court and abandons due process.

MoveOn members will organize to flood their offices with calls and meeting requests. And our members will ensure that whenever these representatives hold public events, MoveOn members are there to ask tough questions about why they’re silent while the administration violates the Constitution.

Trump took an oath to uphold the Constitution. Instead, he’s defying the Supreme Court and abandoning due process.

If Trump can imprison someone without due process, evidence, or a trial, he can do it to anyone—including U.S. citizens he deems to be political enemies.

The case of Kilmar Abrego Garcia is just the beginning. Trump has already signaled he is planning to deport and jail American citizens to El Salvador.5 We won’t let that happen.

Will you start a $5 monthly donation to fund our April recess campaign and power our long-term efforts to defend our democracy and Constitution from Trump?

Thanks for all you do.
