Labels Ukraine War a NATO Proxy

(July 3, 2025) — European Member of Parliament Clare Daly castigates EU government for suppressing information about the war in Ukraine and about the Israeli genocide.  Anyone who presents a narrative contrary to the official narrative is called a purveryor of disinformation.

The EU sanctioned individuals who said the war in Ukraine is a proxy war engineered by the US (the CIA) and others who supported Palestinian rights.

The way sanctions happen is that a committee makes recommendations and then EU foreign ministers decide behind closed doors who gets sanctioned (assets frozen, travel strongly restricted) without a right to trial or even a right for the accused to hear the charges against them.  One Palestinian rights protester couldn’t buy food or medicine for his family.  Anyone who aids him is liable for secondary sanctions.

A few months ago, Jeffrey Sachs gave a long, powerful speech to the EU Parliament. Later, in a zoom meeting, I asked him why the EU continues to fully support the US-engineered proxy war in Ukraine, given that the EU Parliament members heard his speech and applauded it.

Sachs replied that the people who came to hear the speech had self-selected and so they weren’t a representative sample. Perhaps the same holds true for Daly’s speech.
