Letter for a World Free of
War and Nuclear Weapons
International No to War – No to NATO Network
On August 6 and 9, 2025, the individuals and organizations signing this letter will commemorate the 80th anniversary of the events in which the United States dropped two nuclear bombs on the Japanese populations of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, killing 150,000 people and leaving thousands more injured and suffering serious consequences.
We honor and remember all those lives lost and injured by the nuclear bombs. For them, for us, we say No to the existence and use of nuclear weapons!
We express our concern and rejection of the war rhetoric we hear in the media and which is also reflected in the 5% increase in GDP for military spending in the countries of the European Union, the United States, and Canada, NATO member countries, which are preparing for a possible direct military conflict with Russia and China, whom they consider enemies and threats.
A possible direct confrontation between these countries increases the risk of the use of nuclear weapons. This context represents a danger to all of humanity.
We demand that all these countries put an end to their war plans and opt for diplomacy and negotiations that allow for consensus agreements that guarantee peace for all. In this regard, we support the efforts in this direction being made by the Olof Palme International Center and the International Peace Bureau (IPB), which promote the proposal to build a common security that guarantees peace for all countries in the world.
Likewise, we support ICAN, World BEYOND War, WPC, and so many other organizations working for disarmament and peace.
Finally, we call on all our nations, and especially the UN, to unite and raise our voices in demand for negotiations between nuclear powers that guarantee peace and an agenda for disarmament.
Never Again Hiroshima and Nagasaki!
