Gaza Famine ‘Preventable’ If Israel Allowed Aid: UN

(August 26, 2025) — The UN deputy chief for Humanitarian Affairs Tom Fletcher says the famine could have been prevented, had Israel allowed aid into Gaza.

No food, medicine, or tents have been allowed to enter Gaza for the last 10 weeks.

According to figures from Gaza’s Health Ministry, verified by the World Health Organisation, at least 132,000 Palestinian children under the age of five are at risk of death from acute malnutrition through June next year unless they receive immediate large-scale and unimpeded aid.
