()ctober 31, 2025) — What began as a series of illegal, unauthorized deadly bombings in the waters of the Caribbean is now terrifyingly close to all-out war in Venezuela.

Trump ordered the USS Gerald R Ford — the Navy’s “most lethal” warship — to the Caribbean. He already confirmed that he’s authorized CIA action in Venezuela, and U.S. officials are reportedly drawing up plans for a land strike inside the country.

It’s a dangerous march toward a new, wholly unnecessary war, and a troubling lack of guardrails means it could quickly get even worse.

Congress MUST reassert its constitutional war powers and keep us from launching another decades-long, endless war. 

Anti-war champions have already introduced multiple pieces of legislation to avoid a war that puts millions of people at risk. Now, it’s up to us to make sure elected officials feel the heat from their constituents to pull us back from the brink of war.

THE LETTER
What began as a series of unauthorized lethal strikes in the Caribbean now has us at the brink of all-out war in Venezuela.

Continued military action without congressional authorization – especially when crucial questions about who has even been targeted and the actual threat they posed to the United States remain unanswered – amounts to alarming executive overreach. Congress must reassert its constitutional war powers and keep us from launching another decades-long, endless war.
