ACTION ALERT: Tell Congress to Unfreeze Solar Energy Projects
Climate Reality Project

(December 16, 2025) — Building more solar energy projects across the country can help meet rising demand, cut emissions, and keep costs down for working families.

But instead, The Trump Administration’s Department of Interior (DOI) has frozen major solar energy projects on public and private lands.

Meanwhile, the Administration has moved to reverse restrictions on dangerous fossil fuel projects on federal lands.

Solar is the cheapest form of new energy across the US. Plus, it’s the fastest to build.

To meet booming energy demand and help reduce spiking electricity costs for working families, the federal government must not make it unnecessarily hard to build these clean energy projects.

So why is Interior Secretary Doug Burgum tipping the scales in favor of fossil fuels and putting a hold on major solar energy projects in the US?

With clean energy jobs in limbo, it’s up to Congress to hold the line and demand these projects go forward without further delay.

ACTION:
Tell Congress to speak out against DOI Secretary Burgum’s freeze on critical solar energy projects that cut climate pollution and help keep costs down.

THE LETTER:
I am writing to express serious concerns about Department of Interior Secretary Doug Burgum’s freeze on solar and wind energy projects on federal lands.

To meet booming energy demand and help reduce spiking electricity costs for families, the federal government must not make it unnecessarily hard to build these clean energy projects.

Instead, Secretary Burgum is requiring his personal signoff for every solar and wind project on federal land – effectively pausing many projects already well underway and halting approvals for new proposals. Plus, federal agencies are reportedly using the directive to effectively block clean energy projects on private lands too.

Meanwhile, the Administration has moved to reverse restrictions on dangerous fossil fuel projects on federal lands

This unprecedented, bureaucratic rule senselessly discriminates against solar and wind projects during a time when cheap clean energy can help us respond to AI’s growing energy demands.

Additionally, it threatens America’s ability to remain a leader in the global energy transition. We can’t afford to allow burdensome red tape to stop us from stepping up to deliver cheap clean energy for Americans.

With families already struggling with rising electricity bills and thousands of clean energy jobs in limbo, it’s up to Congress to hold the line and demand these projects go forward without further delay.

I urge you to do all in your power to urge Interior Secretary Burgum to revoke his July memo that froze clean energy projects on federals.

Thanks for everything you do,
