POISON FIRE USA — INTERACTIVE TIMELINE OF NUCLEAR ACTIVITIES ON
CONTINENTAL US SOIL

(July 6, 2004) — The Animated Software Company has just completed an exciting new animation showing all major nuclear-related events in the continental United States, 1941 to present. It is written in Flash, the animation language of the web.

The site called Poison Fire USA and it is located at http://www.animatedsoftware.com/poifu/poifu.swf/ed.-strider

The Poison Fire USA timeline/map includes:

• All nuclear bomb blasts on continental United States soil (including in Mississippi, Colorado, New Mexico, and of course, Nevada)

• All pressurized water type nuclear reactors in the United States

• All boiling water type nuclear reactors in the United States

• All nuclear submarine launches in the United States

• All nuclear aircraft carrier launches in the United States

• All nuclear cruiser launches in the United States

• All major nuclear weapons facilities, research facilities, mines, dumps, etc..

We still would like to add all missile silos, SAC bases, food irradiation sites, and probably some other things, too, but accurate data is very hard to collect. We will also be adding “hot links” for every icon on the map.

The speed of advance of the timeline can be adjusted by moving the slider bar under the date display.

If you are interested in posting a link to the Poison Fire USA web site, I’ve created an icon for doing so. Here’s the directory where you can
find a pre-built icon to use to link to “POIFU”:

If you are interested in hosting a copy of Poison Fire USA at your web
site, that can usually be arranged, too — and thanks in advance!

Thanks to everyone who has helped put this project together, including Marc Page of lovarchy.org, who had the original idea for it, Kevin Kamps of NIRS who supplied much of the bomb blast data, Jennifer Viereck, Ron and Christy Schnier, my wife Sharon, who put up with my many sleepless nights as I tried to get the first release finished in time for a film project Marc was working on (Sharon also providing technical and editorial assistance), and also, thanks to many others who have provided information about nuclear activities to me over the years, or specific suggestions about “PIOFU”.

“This is truly the ultimate ‘right to life issue.’ A right to be born without genetic malformations, a right to eat and drink non-radioactive food, a right to live a normal life-span without the threat of early cancer and the right to live without the ever present threat of nuclear war. Above all, we are the curators of life on earth, we hold it in the palm of our hand, a sacred trust with God. Let us take heed and become the true curators for God.”
— Dr. Helen Caldicott
