I am writing to thank you for endorsing the bipartisan effort being led by former Secretary of State George Shultz promoting the vision of a world free of nuclear weapons. I particularly appreciate your promise to use your “power and influence to further that vision.”
I agree that the attention focused on nuclear weapons should be “as prominent as that of global climate change” and that the next president should take urgent, bold steps to work with other nations to rid the planet of these horrible weapons.
I strongly encourage you to fulfill your promise and take actions that will help educate voters and prod presidential candidates from all political parties to endorse the vision and goals outlined by Secretaries Shultz, Henry Kissinger and Bill Perry. Ask Senator Feinstein — a strong leader on these issues in the Senate–to join with you publicly in a bipartisan call for US leadership on nuclear weapons. Contact your fellow governors and ask them to endorse the Shultz/Kissinger effort.
