Army Gives Out $500,000 Armored Trucks for Free

US Army is Giving Away 13,000 MRAPs to Patrol America

MILWAUKIE (February 27, 2014) — Last year we saw colleges beginning to acquire MRAP vehicles. Now, according to Bloomberg, the United States Army is giving away 13,000 military grade armored trucks for free, which tax payers purchased for $500,000 each. The 20-ton MRAPs, or Mine-Resistant Ambush-Protected trucks, were built with the intention to save US soldiers from roadside bombs during the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.

These Military grade vehicles are to patrol US city streets. Are they to direct traffic? What is the purpose of these vehicles on American soil? Did Department of Homeland Security not already purchase 2,727 armored vehicles for American streets? Why do we need 13,000 more?

We have seen US law enforcement agencies already receiving high-powered military armored vehicles. This allows multiple districts to collaborate their MRAP’s and create a “small military unit” or a “small army” in your town or city.

Now if we have a small army in every city, who is to say someone corrupt would not attempt to take a city over or bully their community? Does this make America a war zone if we now have military vehicles patrolling our streets?

Colleges Start Acquiring Military Vehicles

(September 17, 2013) — Ohio State University received what looks to be a tank on wheels for their public safety service officers. Gary Lewis, a senior director of media relations at OSU, called this vehicle an “all-hazard, all-purpose, public safety-response vehicle” with “obviously enhanced capabilities.” according to Yahoo news. These type of vehicles have no business being in the hands of the local police or a university. At what point are armored vehicles a violation of posse comitatus?

We dug a little deeper to find out other colleges have been receiving offers for these vehicles. Recently, the University of California Berkeley Police Department (UCPD Campus Police) reported are getting a $200,000 grant from the Department of Homeland Security to purchase an “Armored Response Counter Attack Truck,” a police department spokesman told the Campus Reform in 2012. The Berkeley Patch later reported Chancellor of Berkley Robert Birgenau refused the armored vehicle because “an eight-ton armored truck has no place on campus.”

Julio Rausseo was eye-witness to similar events in Illinois recently. An annual year-end block party at Western Illinois University ended with riot police. According to Julio, students attending the Wheeler Block Party were met by a “Multi-Jurisdictional Task Force” who used “tear gas,” “LRAD sound weapons” and “crowd suppression tactics” to force students into their homes.

Professor Dewey Cornell, an expert in violence prevention and school safety at University of Virginia, stated “approximately 4,800 four-year colleges in the US, and an average of 10 homicides per year on college campuses, the average college can expect a homicide about once every 480 years.”

He also went on to say “with all we hear about the federal deficit, it’s a shame there is money available for things like this but not for prevention,” said Cornell. “If a university has to resort to a Bearcat, that means there is a failure somewhere else.”

Recently, in Racine, Wisconsin, a Sheriff’s armored vehicle has been purchased and has been seen roaming around. Do we need tanks to help “direct traffic”? Does anyone else think it’s a little odd that armored vehicles are popping up all over the place?

CHATANOOGA, Tennessee (March 2010) — Yes, the country is bankrupt, but the Dept. of Homeland Security continues to throw around $ millions in order to militarize local police across the country.

The banksters (ie. Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan-Chase, and Citibank) are flush with cash thanks to Bernanke and the Federal Reserve, while dumping their worthless derivatives onto the heads of US taxpayers.

Meanwhile, your wages are stagnant or falling (if you still have a job), as remaining industries bolt for India or China, and millions of illegal immigrants destroy the social safety net. As your civil liberties are stolen by the national security state, law enforcement agencies across the country continue to receive federal grants that provide the means to quell a popular revolt by the people, against the banks and the political establishment.
