US Refuses To Take Back 13 Dead CIA Spies Killed In Ukraine
Sorcha Faal/ What Does It Mean

[Note: Dispatches from this source frequently reach fanciful conclusions based on “inside” information. In this case, there is little evidence that “13 CIA operatives were killed” in the downing of two Ukrainian helicopters, but the article contains media links that substantiate disturbing reports of CIA and FBI activity inside Ukraine as well as US mercenaries from Greystone Ltd. — EAW]

(May 4, 2014) — A stunning Ministry of Defense (MoD) report circulating in the Kremlin today states that the United States has refused to repatriate the bodies of 13 Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) military operatives killed when their helicopters were shot down by pro-federalist forces on the outskirts of Slavyansk, eastern Ukraine this past Friday.

According to this report, on 2 May the Anti-Aircraft Artillery Battalion of the 25th Separate Dnipropetrovsk Airborne Brigade of the Ukrainian Army, which had defected to the side of the pro-federalists in April, fired upon and downed two Russian made Mil Mi-17 transport helicopters belonging to the Ukrainian Air Force that had been attempting to land CIA military “command and control” operatives into the battle zone of Slavyansk.

Of the 14 CIA military operatives aboard the two Mil Mi-17’s, this report continues, only one survived, who was initially identified as Captain Savuilov, but whose subsequent questioning revealed him to be an employee of the American mercenary company named Greystone Ltd.

Greystone Ltd, this report notes, states that it “provides the skilled professionals and program management services necessary to deliver rotary wing, protective security and training solutions to customers in challenging environments”, but had previously been warned about by Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov who stated last month: “There were reports, as you know, that some several hundreds of [agents from] the private military organization called Greystone were detected to arrive in Ukraine from the US. We’d like this also to be investigated.” [See story below.]

Sadly, this report says, this CIA/Greystone survivor of these two Mil Mi-17’s being shot down, like his 13 dead compatriots, was, likewise, abandoned, and as reported from the scene by a member of the self-defense forces in Slavyansk who stated: “His troops abandoned him. I thought they would take him away in another helicopter, but they just took his pistol from him and flew away.”

As to the CIA directing the war operations against pro-federalist forces in eastern Ukraine, this MoD report says, their remains no doubt as a representative from Slavyansk’s self-defense movement reporting from the battle zone said, “When using radios, activists have heard English several times on the air…this is direct proof of the participation of foreigners in the retaliatory operations against Slavyansk.” [See story below.]

Germany’s highly influential Bild Newspaper this morning further confirmed the CIA operating in Ukraine, this report says, noting that in the middle of last month, CIA Director John Brennan arrived in Kiev on a top secret visit that Washington initially denied. The following day, Verkhovna Rada interim Speaker Alexander Turchynov announced a large-scale counter-terrorist operation in Ukraine’s southeast. [See story below.]

As to the CIA’s “strategy” in eastern Ukraine, MoD analysts in this report note, is to “instill complete terror” among the peoples in this region as they and their Greystone counterparts are deploying feared Right Sector neo-Nazi forces into the battle zone that pro-federalist forces say are acting strangely, as if they are under the influence of some drugs. [See story below.]

To the success of this CIA “strategy”, this report says, one need look no further then the events in Odessa this past Friday when Right Sector forces firebombed the House of Trade Unions killing dozens of pro-federalist activists, but which the Western media is still refusing to allow their people to know the full and brutal knowledge of.

And with Vasyl Krutov, head of the Ukraine’s anti-terrorist center, stating earlier today that the increased fighting in the east did not appear to be short-term, but “essentially a war,” this report warns, it “remains a fact” that the CIA will order more atrocities to occur as the Obama regime has done in all of their other war zones.

And as to the Obama regimes repeated “lies” that Russia is directing the pro-federalist forces in eastern Ukraine, this report concludes, even the New York Times was forced to admit yesterday that resistance fighters defending Slavyansk in eastern Ukraine are armed with weapons identical to those in the hands of Ukrainian soldiers, and they are all citizens of Ukraine. [See story below.]

And as quoted from the New York Times reporter, who spent a week at the headquarter of the 12th Company, part of People’s Militia of the Donetsk People’s Republic: “Much of their stock was identical to the weapons seen in the hands of Ukrainian soldiers and Interior Ministry special forces troops at government positions outside the city. These included 9-millimeter Makarov pistols, Kalashnikov assault rifles and a few Dragunov sniper rifles, RPK light machine guns and portable antitank rockets, including some with production stamps from the 1980s and early 1990s.

“Many of the weapons show signs of long service. Militia members said their weapons had either been taken from seized police buildings and a column of captured Ukrainian armored vehicles, or bought from corrupt Ukrainian soldiers.”

With forces in the east of Ukraine fighting for the federalization of the country having regained control over the cities and townships of Konstantinovka, Slavyansk, Andreyevka, and Kramatorsk today it, and sadly, remains a fact that more Americans will die in this conflict…but who will claim their bodies still remains a mystery.

At Least Two Ukrainian Army Helicopters
Shot Down over Slavyansk

RT News

(May 3, 2014) — Self-defense squads have reportedly taken down at least two Ukrainian army helicopters, with one pilot confirmed dead. Another pilot is being operated on, and the fate of the others is currently unknown.

However, conflicting reports about the pilots have emerged, with the Ukrainian Defense Ministry stating that two pilots were killed during the operation.

The photo below reportedly shows one of the wounded helicopter pilots being taken to hospital:

Unconfirmed reports suggest the pilot is Captain Savuilov. Doctors said that he suffered a wound in his upper leg and a large blood vessel got injured.

As the medics tried to tend to the wound, an outraged member of the self-defense forces spoke out emotionally about how the Ukrainian forces dumped their own serviceman.

“His troops abandoned him. I thought they would take him away in another helicopter, but they just took his pistol from him and flew away,” a member of the self-defense forces in Slavyansk told RIA Novosti.

The Ukrainian army helicopters carried out air strikes on Slavyansk, according to eyewitnesses. One of the residents told RIA Novosti that the strikes “were conducted in the open terrain near the checkpoints’ area.”

This information has been confirmed by the self-defense forces who reported that the attack started out with “all the checkpoints massively targeted, with the use of helicopter support.” The squads sounded a special siren in the city to alert residents.

The loss of the helicopters forced Kiev to halt the crackdown on the eastern city, which already saw at least three deaths since its launch in the early morning – two Ukrainian troops and one member of the self-defense forces.

Wounded pilot Mi-24 was delivered to the headquarters of self Sloviansk. The pilot of the second Mi-24 helicopter died.

Foreigners Take Part along with Ukrainian Forces
In Special Operation in Slavyansk — Activists

The Voice of Russia

(May 2, 2014) — Foreigners are taking part along with Ukrainian forces in special operations in the southeastern city of Slavyansk, a representative from the city’s self-defense movement told RIA Novosti Friday.

“When using radios, activists have heard English several times on the air,” the activist said. According to the activist, this is “direct proof of the participation of foreigners in the retaliatory operations against Slavyansk.”

Russia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has repeatedly voiced its concerns about the involvement of agents from Greystone private security firm into Ukraine’s crisis, as well as about the buildup of foreign forces in Ukraine.

Last month Moscow said it had reports that some 150 of agents from Greystone mercenaries were implicated in a crackdown on protesters in eastern Ukraine.

“There were reports, as you know, that some several hundreds of [agents from] the private military organization called Greystone were detected to arrive in Ukraine from the US. We’d like this also to be investigated,” Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said in an interview with RT TV channel last week.

“We raised this [question] with the American colleagues. They said they had no knowledge of this going on and they said they had approached the organization itself ‘Greystone ‘ and they denied this. We would like to really be certain of who is doing what because there have been so many ‘distortions of reality,'” he added.

Greystone Ltd. however denied reports of sending its personnel to Ukraine.

“While Greystone has the ability to deploy world-class security staff and trainers anywhere in the world, the Company does not currently, nor do we have any plans to, send personnel to the Ukraine,” Greystone media advisor Tiffany Anderson told RIA Novosti last month.

“The reports about the foreign mercenaries involvement in this operation once again raises a grave issue of external interference in Ukrainian affairs and the role of the West in provoking this situation instead of sending the necessary limiting signals to the Kiev authorities, instead of encouraging them to rein in all those unbridled extremists and radical nationalists,” Konstantin Dolgov, the Russian Foreign Ministry Commissioner for Human Rights, told RIA Novosti Tuesday.

Dozens Of CIA, FBI Agents
“Advising Ukraine Government”, German Press Reports

ZeroHedge & Bild

Now that the situation in Ukraine has officially been upgraded to “war”, what really happens on the ground will remain largely wrapped by the fog of war on either side, with just one thing assured: a war it may be but more than anything it is a proxy war — one in which both western and Russian interests are manifest in the fighting, and killing, of mostly innocent civilians in Ukraine — a carbon copy replica of what happened last year in Syria.

The latest reminder of just this comes from AFP which reports, citing Germany’s Bild, that “dozens of specialists from the US Central Intelligence Agency and Federal Bureau of Investigation are advising the Ukrainian government.”
From AFP:
Citing unnamed German security sources, Bild am Sonntag said the CIA and FBI agents were helping Kiev end the rebellion in the east of Ukraine and set up a functioning security structure.

It said the agents were not directly involved in fighting with pro-Russian militants. “Their activity is limited to the capital Kiev,” the paper said.

The FBI agents are also helping the Kiev government fight organized crime, it added.

A group specialised in financial matters is to help trace the wealth of former Ukrainian president Viktor Yanukovych, according to the report.

On the surface, this report is hardly surprising: we reported a month ago, subsequently confirmed by the White House, that CIA director Brennan had “secretly” visited Kiev in early April. It stands to logic that he was hardly alone and continuing the proud tradition of Libya, Egypt and Syria, the CIA was merely getting started unfolding the agency’s core competency: regional destabilization.

What is very surprising is that Germany’s press is finally stepping away from the Western media propaganda umbrella and starting to report the side of the narrative that is in direct opposition to US interests in either Ukraine, or Germany.

So just who, and why, is pulling the strings on Germany’s media outlets in a way that goes against the official Merkel fiction, if in agreement with Germany’s commercial and industrial interests (as well as those of Europe’s commission himself)?

And how soon before Germany’s position, one clearly against the imposition of further sanctions on Russia and the additional alienation of the Kremlin, puts Germany on direct collision course with Obama and the US state department?

And what then: will Germany, shunned by the US, have no choice but to reallign with the ascendent Eurasian axis of China and Russia? Stay tuned.

Ukrainian Military May Be
Storming Slavyansk under Drugs – Activists

The Voice of Russia

(May 2, 2014) — The self-defense forces who are opposing the assault on Slaviansk by the Ukrainian law enforcers this Friday claim that the Ukrainian soldiers are acting strangely, as if they are under the influence of some drugs.

“These people are overexcited, I personally witnessed a few episodes of unexplained aggression and merriment. As if they are fed pills with food, or something else,” a pro-federalization activist told RIA Novosti, after observing the Ukrainian security forces at the abandoned protesters’ checkpoint.

Previously, social networks and media reported that psychostimulants could have been given to people on Maidan under the guise of sports nutrition.

Specialists of the Kiev detoxication clinic Socioterapiya diagnosed the Euromaidan participants with signs of withdrawal symptoms, the so-called “cold turkey,” which happens when an addict stops using drugs.

Nevertheless, these people deny having ever used drugs. The method of pumping up soldiers with psychotropic substances is a long known one, in particular, it has been has been practiced by the US military.

This helps to create a feeling of euphoria and invincibility, and also allows people to function better without rest for several days.

On February 22, Ukraine went through a regime change.

The Verkhovna Rada ousted President Viktor Yanukovych, changed the Constitution and scheduled early presidential elections for May 25.

Yanukovych was forced to flee Ukraine under threats to his personal safety but remains the legally elected head of the state.

Moscow has contested the legitimacy of the new leadership. Eastern Ukraine has been hit by pro-federalization protests in mainly Russian-speaking regions.

The Ukrainian government earlier announced a special operation to crack down on the unrest. Moscow has denounced Kiev’s actions.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly condemned the Kiev authorities’ attempts to use their army against civilians.

Moscow: Kiev and Western Sponsors
Directly Responsible for Bloodshed in Eastern Ukraine

RT News

(May 3, 2014) — Kiev’s government and its western allies bear full responsibility for the recent bloodshed in Ukraine, Russia’s presidential spokesman has said, adding it is now impossible to convince people in the region to disarm because their lives are under threat.

Spokesperson for Russian President Vladimir Putin, Dmitry Peskov, released an official statement following the tragic events in Odessa. 39 anti-government activists have died in a fire at the Trade Unions House there, after the building was set ablaze by pro-Kiev radicals. Some anti-Kiev protesters burned to death, while others suffocated or jumped out of windows, the Ukrainian Interior Ministry said.

Peskov expressed deep condolences for the families of those who died in the tragedy on behalf of President Vladimir Putin and said the Kiev government and the West had blood on their hands.

“The authorities in Kiev not only bear direct responsibility, but are complicit in these criminal activities. Their arms are up to the elbows in blood,” Peskov said. He said the tragedy in Odessa was the product of “the connivance of those who consider themselves the authority in Kiev. They allowed extremists and radicals to burn unarmed people alive. I stress that these people were unarmed.”

Peskov condemned the position adopted by Washington and a number of European countries as motivated by cynicism. “It is the highest manifestation of cynicism. The people who justify this punitive operation are the same ones that did not allow the legitimate President of Ukraine, Viktor Yanukovich, to bring order to the country,” said Peskov, referring to the special operation being carried out in the East of Ukraine at the order of the Kiev government.

The latest escalation in the fighting in eastern Ukraine has made it impossible for any nation to convince people to disarm in the region because their lives are at risk, said Peskov.

“In spite of consistent attempts to encourage dialogue, Russia has hit against provocation not only from Kiev, but also its Western sponsors,” he said, stressing that Russia could not find a solution to the current conflict on its own.

Addressing the Ukrainian elections that are set to take place later this month, Peskov said the prospect of such a vote was “absurd” while violence continues to rage in the country.

The president’s spokesperson announced on Friday that Kiev had effectively destroyed the last vestige of hope for implementing the Geneva agreement on de-escalating the Ukrainian crisis by unleashing a ‘punitive operation’ in eastern Ukraine. Russia views the operation as criminal and has urged the Ukrainian government not to use force against unarmed civilians.

However, the EU and the US have both supported the Kiev government’s operation. President Barack Obama called it “a move to restore order,” while EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton said “the state’s monopoly on the legitimate use of violence needs to be respected.

“Our colleagues in the West are basically trying to justify the large number of murders we are seeing,” said Peskov, calling Ashton’s statement “monstrous.”

When asked how Russia would react to the escalating conflict in Ukraine, Peskov said he was unable to answer that question at present.

“This is unknown territory for us,” said the presidential spokesperson, adding that the Russian government has received thousands of calls from southeastern Ukraine, demanding Moscow’s help. “Desperate people call, they ask for help. The vast majority want Russia’s help,” said Peskov. “All of these calls are reported to President Vladimir Putin.”

Dozens of FBI, CIA Agents in Kiev ‘Assisting Ukraine Security’
RT News

(May 4, 2014) — Numerous US agents are helping the coup-appointed government in Ukraine to “fight organized crime” in the south east of the country, the German newspaper Bild revealed. According to Bild, the CIA and FBI are advising the government in Kiev on how to deal with the ‘fight against organized crime’ and stop the violence in the country’s restive eastern regions. The group also helps to investigate alleged financial crimes and is trying to trace the money, which was reportedly taken abroad during Viktor Yanokovich’s presidency, the newspaper said.

The head of the CIA, John Brennan, visited Kiev in mid-April and met with the acting Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk and first Vice-President Vitaly Yarema to discuss a safer way to transfer US information to Ukraine.

Jen Psaki, spokeswomen for the United States Department of State, said that there was nothing to read into Brennan’s visit to Kiev, and that the head of the CIA did not offer support to the coup-appointed government in the country to help them conduct tactical operations within Ukraine.

However, following the visit, the toppled President Viktor Yanukovich linked the CIA chief’s appearance in Kiev to the first stage of the new government’s crackdown in Slavyansk. Brennan “sanctioned the use of weapons and provoked bloodshed,” Yanukovich said.

Bild‘s reports comes as US President Barack Obama rules out that Washington will interfere in the situation in Ukraine.

“You’ve also seen suggestions or implications that somehow Americans are responsible for meddling inside Ukraine. I have to say that our only interest is for Ukraine to be able to make its own decisions. And the last thing we want is disorder and chaos in the center of Europe,” he said speaking in the White House after meeting the German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, just two days ago.
