(March 17, 2018) — US naval strike groups are preparing for a possible attack on Syria, the Russian Defense Ministry on March 17, 2018.
“We note the evidence of preparation for possible attacks. Strike groups of naval carriers with cruise missiles are being formed in the Eastern part of the Mediterranean, in the Persian Gulf and in the Red Sea,” chief of the Main Operational Directorate of the Russian General Staff Col. Gen. Sergey Rudskoy said.
Rudskoy added that false flag chemical attacks and provocations will serve as a pretext for possible US attacks.
“We have reliable information at our disposal that US instructors have trained a number of militant groups in the vicinity of the town of At-Tanf, to stage provocations involving chemical warfare agents in southern Syria,” Col. Gen. Rudskoy said. “Early in March, the saboteur groups were deployed to the southern de-escalation zone to the city of Deraa, where the units of the so-called Free Syrian Army are stationed.”
“They are preparing a series of chemical munitions explosions. This fact will be used to blame the government forces.. The components to produce chemical munitions have been already delivered to the southern de-escalation zone under the guise of humanitarian convoys of a number of NGOs.”
The Russian general added members of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (Jabhat al-Nusra) and the White Helmets “are preparing a staged chemical attack in the Alghabit and Kalbb Lusa communities situated 25 km to the North-West of Idlib.” The militants allegedly have 20 chlorine containers for this.

Russia Says It Will Attack US Military if Trump Strikes Syria Again

(March 13, 2018) — Top Russian officials have threatened to retaliate with force if President Donald Trump orders an attack that could endanger the lives of its soldiers stationed there in support of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s campaign against rebels and jihadis near Damascus.
Army General Valery Gerasimov warned on Tuesday that the US was preparing to launch raids against Moscow’s ally, the Syrian government, as it attempted to clear the pockets of insurgents — some of which were once backed by the West — in the suburbs of the capital city of Damascus.
Gerasimov, who acted as chief of Russia’s general staff and deputy defense minister, claimed that the US would strike under the false pretense of a chemical weapon attack — a tactic that Russia has denied the Syrian military utilizes — and vowed to fight back. . . .

LONDON (March 17, 2018) — The US military is poised to unleash a barrage of airstrikes on soldiers supporting Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, according to Russia’s General Staff. General Sergei Rudskoi, head of main operations for Russia’s General Staff, said there are signs the US is gearing up for strikes on Assad’s forces, Russian news agency TASS reported.
“We are aware that there are signs of preparations for possible strikes,” the military chief said, speaking on Russian TV channel Rossiya’24.
A fleet of strike carriers “that carry cruise missiles” have been sent to the Mediterranean and Red Seas, where US forces launch sea-based missile attacks, he said.
A US Navy carrier strike group (CSG) is comprised of 7,500 army personnel, an aircraft carrier, at least one cruiser, destroyers, and 65 to 70 aircraft.
The possible assault comes as Assad’s regime, backed by Russia, continues to carry out airstrikes over the rebel-held territories.
Last week the US threatened to “act if we must” if a UN ceasefire to allow civilians to escape and seek medical attention was not honoured by Assad’s forces.
“It is not the path we prefer, but it is a path we have demonstrated we will take, and we are prepared to take again,” US Ambassador to the UN, Nikki Hailey, said.

(March 17, 2018) — Provocations by US-trained militants groups using chemical weapons will serve as a pretext for the United States to attack Syria, and Moscow has seen corresponding preparatory moves, including the formation of naval strike groups, the Russian General Staff has said.
“We note the evidence of preparation for possible attacks. Strike groups of naval carriers with cruise missiles are being formed in the Eastern part of the Mediterranean, in the Persian Gulf and in the Red Sea,” general Rudskoy said.
He stressed that it is unclear, who the US wants to support in this case, Jabhat al-Nusra* terrorists or their allies terrorizing Eastern Ghouta.
According to Rudskoy, militants of the al-Nusra Front from Eastern Ghouta have recently intensified the shelling of Damascus, the army is now conducting operations to eliminate the terrorists.
