Remembering Songwriter, Singer and Activist, Vic Sadot
The Berkeley Fellowship of Unitarian Universalists

BERKELEY, Calif. (October 8, 2018) — Our beloved, longtime BFUU community member and former Social Justice Committee chair, Vic Sadot, passed away over the weekend.

He was an ardent truth teller, a giant of an activist who defended his values and beliefs with admirable passion, a very fine musician and songwriter, and a dear friend. His life will be celebrated at 5:30 this Saturday in the Community Room at Redwood Gardens, 2951 Derby St. in southeast Berkeley.
With love & gratitude for all he did for us and for the world.

The world lost a man dedicated to peace and telling the truths he saw –Vic Sadot, a musician from Delaware and a Green. You can still find his truths by Googling Truth Troubadour or at this page.

One of Vic’s great gifts was to celebrate and carry on the legacy of Phil Ochs, the main anti-war singer/songwriter of the Vietnam War era. Phil Ochs had more than 70 songs published in Broadside, the National Topical Song Magazine. Here is Vic’s salute to his fellow “broadside balladeer.”

From all of us at I Am The Face of Truth

Some comments/tributes from Vic’s many friends:
I always admired his commitment to fighting injustice, his dedication to those who struggle, and the way he wove those ideals into his music. (NY musician George Mann)

Your work in this life testifies on your behalf, and we will carry on for you, making you live forever among us and also praying that you are rewarded with paradise.

Your work in this life testifies on your behalf, and we will carry on for you, making you live forever among us and also praying that you are rewarded with paradise.

We will carry on thanks to your Noble efforts and your Love of the Truth.

See you on the other side my Friend!

May all the good souls reunite in the hereafter and be rewarded for the goodness they spread on earth, amen.

Thank you for your tireless work to make this world a better place.

Thank you for speaking your truth. May you rest now. Much love and healing light to his family and friends.

Thank you so much for always being kind. Thank you for being a role model to us all. God bless you brother.

Thank you, Vic, for your songs and activism, you were tireless and deep and also a great supporter of other political songwriters. You are missed. May you RIP among the Broadside Balladeers.

We love you Vic Sadot. You were always leading by example.

Feast well with the rest of the heroes, Vic Sadot. Heaven rings with your songs.

Thanks for always fighting the good fight, for your love, your friendship, your music and your unending passion for a world of justice and peace.

Just when our government saw one of its darkest days, confirming just about the worst possible person to the Supreme Court — then we lose Vic, the man who would sing out for peace & Justice.

2018 has been one of the worst years our country has ever faced. Vic Sadot wrote “Rude Awakening,” as a strong message of hope in 1984, to remind us we’ve got to speak out against tyranny. Now, more than ever. Peace & Justice to you, Vic.

Vic always shared his political views with the audience. Whether you agreed with him or not, for sure you knew you were regarding someone who was sincerely trying to make a difference. Rest easy, Vic.

Peace to all who will miss him.

Vic tossed a pebble into my life, just as he has into the world — with his musical activism — and it’s caused ripples which will spread and expand ever further hereafter.

“We all need a quiet place to go to sometimes
. . . away from the storm.”

— Vic Sadot

Goodbye my friend, sleeping with angels.
