ACTION ALERT: Money for Human Needs Not Corporate Arms

Emergency Call: Money
For Human Needs, NOT for Imperialist War
 US Peace Council
(April 15, 2026) — No federal funds for Medicare, Medicaid, child care and “all these individual things”, but instead ”we have to take care of one thing: military protection”: that is what Trump actually asserted at a private Easter luncheon. Then, on Good Friday, the White House proposed a budget demanding $1.5 trillion in military spending along with extensive privatization and draconian cuts—tens of billions of dollars—to federal programs impacting education, health care, climate control, and housing.

This is more than a moral obscenity. It is a national emergency. It is an escalation of the imperialist war abroad and the class war at home.

Although the racist austerity and imperialist wars have long been strategies of ruling class wealth accumulation in the belly of the beast, no President has ever stated these interests so openly.  Trump’s proposed restriction of federal funds for crucial life-affirming social programs while increasing spending on the death producing war machine,  explicitly threatening to bomb Iran  into the Stone Age, “blowing up everything over there”, is a reflection of the brute gangsterism associated with a dying US empire.

If there ever was a time for massive public outrage against grossly misplaced priorities in spending our federal tax dollars and ongoing war crimes, death and destruction, that time is now.

The bloated military budget, now $1 trillion with a giant 50% increase for 2027  must be cut, significantly.

Investments in underfunded human needs must be increased, drastically.

* The supplemental $200 billion for the war on Iran, which is already draining the public treasury of some $1.5 billion daily, must be blocked, completely
* The genocide against the Palestinian people and the war on Iran and West Asia must end, immediately.
* The genocidal blockade that seeks to sabotage the Cuban revolution must be lifted, immediately.
* The imperialist interventions across the Caribbean and the extra‑judicial killings of people in boats under the pretext of a war on drugs must cease, immediately.
* President Nicolás Maduro and First Combatant Cilia Flores must be released, immediately.
* US military bases across the globe must be closed.

ICE must be abolished completely and the fascist, police and carceral attacks on our immigrant, Black and Brown and Immigrant communities must end, immediately. This militaristic madness, which is severely endangering the very social fabric of our communities, and the planet, must end and be reversed.

Join the growing movement to fight back against the misappropriation of our taxpayer dollars to fuel wars and ruling-class wealth accumulation. From the pledge to withhold tax dollars for genocide and empire and the National Day of Action  – Money for Human Needs, NOT for War! – to the Move The Money to Human Needs Campaign: we urgently need a federal budget and federal policy that centers life over profit – policies that shift federal funds from the imperialist war machine to peaceful purposes and unmet human needs. Instead of war, let there be a campaign against poverty, a campaign against inequality, a campaign against global injustice and a campaign against manufacturing weapons and militarization.

We urge everyone to join the upcoming anti-war protests and actions, and to be prepared to call emergency mobilizations in the coming days to decry the direct threats of a nuclear attack by the Trump regime made on the morning of April 7.
