Tell Congress:
Stop Starving Families to Fund War
Civic Shout Activist Network
(May 6, 2026) — Trump Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins is bragging about families losing access to food: “4.3 Million Off SNAP and Counting!”
While families struggle to afford groceries, Trump officials and Republican leaders are celebrating taking food away from millions — kids, seniors, and working people.
And at the exact same time? Trump is demanding Congress give him $200 billion more for war.
This is what cutting off food aid means: empty fridges, parents skipping meals, and seniors rationing what little they have. And millions more could be next.
Instead of stopping it, they’re bragging about how many people they’ve cut off — like it’s an achievement.
Rep. Jim McGovern said it plainly: “We have 46 million people in this country who are hungry, and they don’t seem to give a shit. We ought to be able to end hunger in this country. It’s a political condition. We have the money.”
Congress is negotiating major food policy right now — including the Farm Bill — and they can restore SNAP before more damage is done. But they won’t act unless there’s pressure.
Some people believe that there’s always money for war. But when it comes to feeding people, there’s never enough. We need to change that by showing Congress we’re ready to hold them accountable if they don’t restore food aid for millions of families.
THE LETTER
Millions of Americans are already struggling to afford groceries, yet SNAP cuts are taking food away from families who depend on it to survive. At the same time, billions continue to be spent on the war in Iran.
No one should go hungry while the resources to prevent it exist. You have the power to vote to reverse this damage as part of the Farm Bill and restore food assistance before more families are pushed into crisis.
As your constituent, I urge you to act now to reverse SNAP cuts, protect food access for millions, and prioritize ending hunger in the United States over continued war spending
