ACTION ALERT: Crucial War Powers
Votes in Congress This Week
Win Without War
(June 1, 2026) — The tide has turned on Trump’s illegal, disastrous war on Iran, and if we have anything to say about it, there’ll be nothing he or Speaker Mike Johnson can do to stop it.
In the waning moments before the House left for Memorial Day recess, Speaker Johnson pulled Rep. Gregory Meeks’ War Powers Resolution (WPR), which would terminate hostilities against Iran’s government, from the floor — flexing a cowardly, procedural move because he didn’t have the votes to stop it.
Rep. Meeks’ resolution would have passed if it had been voted on. And it’s not just the House where momentum is building: Just days before that, a bipartisan coalition in the Senate also advanced Senator Tim Kaine’s WPR, 50-47.
Margins in Congress are narrow — the last WPR vote in the House failed on a 212-212 tie. We can’t afford to give up any ground when we’re so close. With crucial war powers votes expected in both chambers this week, we need you to help keep the pressure on.
With political and policy failures mounting, we know the President is about to go all in on a pressure campaign to hold Republicans in line.
But already, over 90 days of unnecessary war have raged. In that time, joint U.S.-Israeli strikes have reportedly killed 1,700 Iranian civilians; taken the lives of 13 U.S. service members, and injured hundreds more. People across the globe have struggled under the impacts of this war, including a 3.8% inflationary spike and $4.50-a-gallon gas here at home. More economic pain is on the way.
That’s where you come in: By continuing to overwhelm congressional offices with demands to end the war on Iran, we can secure the majority of lawmakers we need to stop the violence for good and save lives.
With Congress back in session this week, our work is only deepening — and our demands are only getting louder.
Tell Congress: Pass a war powers resolution to stop Trump’s disastrous, illegal war on Iran!
Thank you for working for peace,
