(June 11, 2026) — Senator Bernie Sanders is introducing the American AI Sovereign Wealth Fund Act — legislation that would require the largest AI companies to transfer 50% of their stock into a public fund, giving Americans direct ownership, a seat on company boards, and a real share of the enormous wealth AI is expected to generate.

It’s simple – AI was created off of the collective knowledge of humanity, often without compensation from large tech companies and billionaires. Now, it’s poised to fundamentally shift the role of labor in our economy for the future.

We cannot allow that direction to be chosen unilaterally in shady backrooms by tech oligarchs, corporate elites, and the ultra-wealthy. Giving the people a 50% stake in AI companies, in compensation for what we have contributed to the growth of AI, is how we ensure that the path forwards is fair, equitable, and consistent with the American Dream.
