Pentagon Set to Order 450 New Sentinel Missiles

(July 3, 2026) — The Sentinel ICBM program will have an entirely new missile and infrastructure planned to last through 2075.

450 new missiles and unmanned launch facilities, 24 new launch centers, equipment for 16 secondary launch capabilities, and 3 new wing command centers will be built. 5,000 miles of fiber optics will connect launch centers and launch facilities across 3 wings covering 32,000 miles across 5 states.

Northrup Grumman is working with the U.S. Air Force Global Strike Command, Air Force Materiel Command, and a nationwide team of over 500 suppliers to make the Sentinel program a reality.

(September 3, 2021) — Note that the “reentry vehicle” described in the video is a 475-kiloton nuclear warhead, and that the Sentinel can carry 1 to 3 such warheads.
