(August 3, 2026) — Cyanide bombs – or M-44 devices – are indiscriminate wildlife killers, used to protect cattle from predators. They are planted into the ground with bait attached to the top, and when an animal like a coyote bites or pulls on it, the trap shoots sodium cyanide into its face. The animal dies a slow and agonizing death, suffocating from the inside.

These deadly devices were banned because they kill even endangered species like wolves and eagles – and they can harm pets or small children who could accidentally activate them.

But now, Trump wants to bring back these lethal bombs on public lands where families hike or go for a walk with their dogs.

This is yet another attack on wildlife by Trump, who is doing the bidding of the livestock lobby. But he’s trying to reintroduce this sadistic practice under the radar — no public consultation, no debate, and Trump knows people are overwhelmingly against these torture bombs. If we shine a global light on his cruel plan, we can spark massive public outrage and shut it down!

In 2024 alone, cyanide bombs killed more than 4,500 animals, including many accidental deaths. They don’t kill only foxes or coyotes – they’ve also killed endangered species like gray wolves or bears, even eagles. And in 2017, a boy was severely injured when his dog accidentally triggered one of these devices. He had to watch his dog die in pain right in front of his eyes.

This is why M-44 devices were banned under the Biden administration. But Trump and his cronies want to bring them back – not because of a sudden predator overpopulation or concern for ecosystems. They are bringing them back because Trump, once again, is catering to an industry that views environmental protections as obstacles to profit.

Using cyanide bombs is the cheapest, most efficient way for the livestock and ranching industry to get rid of predators. They don’t care about the risks they pose to people and their pets who just want to enjoy the outdoors, even though there are plenty of safer alternatives.

But the majority of people like you and I do care, which is exactly why Trump and his administration is trying to quietly reintroduce cyanide bombs – smuggling it through as a policy change with no announcement, no public consultation, no nothing.
