Stand With Um Al Khair

(August 20, 2026) — Just weeks after the one year anniversary of Awdah Hathaleen’s murder, the residents of Umm Al Khair learned their entire community is at risk of imminent ethnic cleansing and expulsion.
In a sudden and highly alarming move, Israeli authorities have rapidly changed the maps and land classifications concerning Umm al-Khair, reclassifying over 90% of the land previously recognized as privately owned by Palestinians, now as “disputed land.” The consequences of this sudden reclassification are already reverberating throughout the village. Every home, every family, and every piece of land in Umm al-Khair now faces an existential threat from state-supported settler attacks inside their village and around their homes — all under the pretext of “disputed land.”
The village of Umm Al Khair has suffered greatly in the last year, with caravans from the neighboring settlement of Carmel usurping a large portion of the village, directly next to Palestinian homes. They have continued to attempt to overtake more land, and recently took over a Palestinian family’s backyard. This change in land classification opens up the door for further brutal and violent acts of displacement in the village.
The residents of Umm Al Khair are calling on people of conscience from around the globe to stand with them and contact their government representatives, before it is too late.
For decades, Canadian charities have funneled taxpayer-subsidized funds to Israel. Some send money directly to support State activities, including illegal settlements and military operations. Others give indirectly to pro-Israeli organizations that spread zionist propaganda and anti-Palestinian racism.
We call this the Canada-to-Israel Charity Pipeline, and we’re here to shut it down!
For the past two years, we’ve been fighting the Canada-to-Israel Charity Pipeline with annual actions across so-called Canada. Our work builds on Defund Racism, “a Palestinian-led movement to end the use of ‘charitable’ funds raised in the [so-called] United States to carry out the mission of Israeli settler organizations.”
From August 31 to September 12, our communities will directly confront complicit organizations, demanding they stop using charitable donations to fund genocide, apartheid, and the illegal occupation of Palestine.
