ACTION ALERT:
Stop Argentina’s $40 Billion Glacier Graba

(August 21, 2026) — Argentina’s wannabe Trump, Javier Milei just reversed a critical glacier protection law that safeguarded the water supply of 7 million people in the Andes.

Now greedy mining companies like the mining giant Glencore are lining up, ready to fill their executives’ pockets with glacier destruction while the local communities and ecosystems suffer the consequences.

If we create a global outcry, Glencore’s clients and investors won’t want to be linked to destroying the glaciers that have fed the Andes for millennia. If we don’t turn this into a huge story, the company might just get away with it.
ACTION: Glencore: don’t mine Argentina’s glaciers — protect them now.

Argentina’s glaciers aren’t just ice – they are the vital water supply for 7 million people. These fragile ecosystems regulate entire river systems across the Andes. Yet, at least 53 mining operations are already operating in violation of the previous glacier protection law. The reform doesn’t just open the door to new destruction—it retroactively legitimises damage already being done.

Some will say Glencore is simply following the law. But the law is being challenged as unconstitutional by 850,000 Argentines in what has been called the largest collective lawsuit in the country’s history.

Glencore markets itself as a responsible critical minerals supplier for the clean energy transition. But there is no version of clean energy that runs on melted glaciers and dried-up rivers.

Glencore’s investors, its clients, and the 7 million people downstream deserve a clear answer: will Glencore commit to staying out of glacial and periglacial zones, regardless of what a controversial law now permits?

ACTION: Glencore: no mining near Argentina’s glaciers — whatever the law says.

Thanks for all that you do,
