‘The Brink of War’:
What It Takes to Prevent Nuclear War

(September 3, 2026) — Dear Friends in the Global Peace Movement,

It’s incredible that nothing has been learned and we are at the same impasse illustrated in the new film, Brink of War, when Gorbachev was confronted with Reagan’s attachment to Star Wars: No nuclear abolition agreements without agreements to keep space for peace!.

Russia (and China) have been urging the US to take up their draft treaty to prohibit weapons and war in space for years!! They tabled a draft in the UN Committee on Disarmament where consensus is required to negotiate a new treaty and the US blocked them in 2014 and 2018.

On the 80th Anniversary of WWII, last summer, they criticized the US Golden Dome project and made their proposal again and even pledged never to be the first to place or use weapons in space.

It’s time to call attention to their stunning calls to action!!   It could be an off-ramp to the nuclear disarmament and total and complete disarmament promised in the NPT and so urgently needed today with the impending cataclysmic climate disaster bearing down on our beleaguered Mother Earth!!
