(September 13, 2026) — The White House & Congress are set to pass a $1.5 trillion budget for the Pentagon this year. This budget will wreak havoc on communities and ecosystems worldwide. While our people desperately need funding for education, food assistance, housing, and healthcare, this budget gives a massive handout to billionaires and corporations.
We demand our taxes fund our communities, not endless war. It’s time to cut the $1.5 trillion Pentagon budget and reinvest in the people and planet.
Congress is starting the processzing that bill now. It’s important that we write to them early and tell them we want them to vote NO on the final bill, and fund life-affirming programs instead.
ACTION: Tell Your Representatives to Vote NO on the Pentagon Budget!

ACTION ALERT: The NDAA Is a Disaster
CODEPINK
(September 20, 2026) — I write to you as your constituent and ask that you vote no on the NDAA. I heard of the $1.5 trillion budget proposal. I also heard that the Pentagon has never passed an audit, and that 50% of that money goes straight to private companies. How can we justify spending that much money on the military budget when people in our state were cut from Medicaid this year?
How can we justify spending $1.5 trillion on war when we have so many homeless people in our state? I would be very disappointed if you voted in favor of such a bill, and I would like to see you take proactive steps to prevent this bill from passing, and vote NO on the final version especially if it is over the budget from last fiscal year.
Senator Markey introduced a bill to cut the budget in half a few months ago. He outlined ways we could more effectively use that money that I want to highlight:
- Build high-speed rail across the nation, expand existing passenger rail service, and electrify the most heavily polluting railyards and corridors ($205 billion)
- Cancel out 100 percent of Americans’ medical debt ($220 billion)
- Fully fund SNAP and feed hungry families nationwide over the next two years ($200 billion)
- Provide children with Head Start and Early Head Start for the next decade ($125 billion)
I understand this bill is not likely to pass or be voted on, but it’s a good illustration of what could be funding if we did not entangle ourselves in this reckless spending, I would be incredibly disappointed and shocked if you voted to support such a massive war budget while people in our state suffer.
Please, vote NO on the $1.5 trillion Pentagon budget (or whatever final number over one trillion the final NDAA takes).
