ACTION ALERT: Pentagon Greed Alert
Win Without War
(October 8, 2026) — A craven Pentagon plan would siphon billions of dollars away from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), an agency still reeling from DOGE cuts last year. [1]
That’s money to fund critical medical research — lifesaving treatments or cures for infectious diseases like malaria, HIV, Ebola, and other dangerous pathogens. It’s money that Congress already used its constitutional authority to appropriate to NIH.
This outrageous plan only came to light after lawmakers went digging. They learned that money they approved for curing diseases could instead be used to patch Pentagon spending shortfalls caused by an illegal war Americans didn’t want, but is costing them BILLIONS.
We refuse to let Hegseth and Co. get away with it. So together, let’s push lawmakers to speak out, demand that taxpayer dollars continue to fund health research, and refuse one more cent for weapons and war.
ACTION: Will you send an urgent message to your elected officials now?
Don’t let anyone tell you that those hundreds of BILLIONS will finally be enough for the weapons contractors and warmongers. It never is. There’s always another war, another weapons system, another “urgent” reason to take more. Critical agencies like NIH are left picking up the tab.
Next year’s NIH proposed budget is estimated to be about $41.5 billion. Meanwhile, Pentagon officials and Republicans in Congress are pushing tooth-and-nail to secure a record-shattering $1.5 TRILLION Pentagon budget request. For that amount, the NIH could be funded 36 times over.
Do you think new and unnecessary weapons will help people more than cures for disease? We didn’t think so.
Those are just the straight numbers. This time, those proposals are being debated as American families reel from the cost of Trump’s illegal war on Iran. The latest analysis estimates that cost at $1,760 per household — and growing.
At the same time, drastic cuts to domestic spending have meant that millions of Americans have lost food assistance and health care. Next year, health insurance costs are expected to skyrocket.
Here’s the good news: Trump just backed down from an executive order that would have jeopardized billions in additional health research funding, and momentum to push back against an immoral, dangerous Pentagon budget is only growing. That happened because people spoke up, and lawmakers listened.
Thank you for working for peace,
